If you’re looking for a very rustic look, while your property calls for earth tones, than sandstone is what your looking for. Even though it generally comes from Montérégie or Eastern part of North American, it is accessible in our beautiful Eastern Townships area.
Above is the style known as crazy-work in which we keep the natural forms of the stones by matching the edges together. Below (under construction), the cut stone workmanship where edges are cut to give smaller joints while leaving it’s irregular shapes.
As you can see, sandstone offers a wider variety of shades than slate stone. It’s also possible to obtain them categorized by color. Usually American sandstone is smoother and is offered in larger pieces, great for stepping stones.
